In Journal 10 members demonstrate the intellectual commitment behind their work. They were asked to describe influences from 'across fields' to verify our sense that a change is beginning to unfold in Chicago architecture. Gladly, the results corroborated our hunches; entries revealed inspiration from, among others, art, science, engineering and ethics. While some architects render a clear connection between their work and another field, others provide us with a peek into possible future directions. Invited essayists offer scholarship, opinions, and commentary about outside influences on some of our favorite architects or glimpses into their own influences.
